Dundas Valley School
Of Art Giant Estate Sale
Great art, rare books, curiosities and collectables and more to be found at this
annual and very popular event. Held at the Dundas Valley School of Art in Dundas
Ontario, this giant estate sale offers buyers a chance to pick up some unique and
very reasonably priced items.
Dundas Fall Studio Tours
Beginning in the fall, there are two studio tours presenting the works of Dundas
potters and craftspeople from throughout the Dundas Valley. The Dundas Studio Tour and
the Beyond The Valley Studio Tour usually take place within a few weeks of one another.
Beyond The Valley Studio Tour
Beyond The Valley Studio Tour presents well known potters Scott Barnim, Richard Fisher,
Terry Osborne and their guests Lori Skinner, Catherine Weir and Tara Lynne Franco.
The well known Pavlo Pottery, is just a short drive to Rockton where Pavlo Tsarynny and
Oksana Pogorila have filled their studio with unusual trays, mugs and bowls, teacups and casseroles. Stephanie King, a jewelry designer who works with a diverse selection of gemstones
presents as her guest, painter Michelle Guitard. Glass artists Michelle Prosek and Paul Rodrigue are also presenting their newest creations on this tour from their
studios in Greensville - just up the hill from downtown Dundas .
The Dundas Studio Tour
The Dundas Studio Tour presents the works of Deborah Doran, Lou Hanson, Jonathan Harper Jane Hill, Debi Keir-Nicholson, Louise McCann, Lorraine Roy / Janusz Wrobel, Barb Sachs Monika Sheddon, Lucy Slykerman, Cheryl Takacs / Jean-Marc Leclair.
With both studio tours the works of these artisans are presented in their studios and showrooms.
Dundas Buskerfest
The Dundas Buskerfest brings performers from all over the world to present
their unique entertainment right on King Street ( the main street of Downtown Dundas ).
From jugglers, acrobats, magicians, musicians, and other types of street performers to
local performing artists, the entertainment is always first class. Vendors line both sides of the
street with their display tents and offer a huge selection of items ranging from clothing, memorabilia, fashion, arts, crafts, jewelry and other beautiful and unusual objects
and products for sale.
Dundas Cactus Festival
The Dundas Cactus Festival takes place in late August on the main street of Dundas, King Street, and once again this street is closed to traffic for the three day event.
Beginning with a parade on the first evening, this three day event presents the works of local artists ( found on the Artists Way ) as well as numerous products, objects, foods, clothing, memorabilia, fashions, arts, crafts, jewelry to be found on the closed section of King Street with its outdoor mall of tents and booths.
The Hamilton Potters Guild
The Hamilton Potters Guild holds two sales every year, one in the spring and one in the fall
at the Dundas Community Centre. Located on Market Street between King and Hatt Streets in
downtown Dundas, there is plenty of parking for visitors. Nearby restaurants like the
Schwaben Inn ( German and traditional Canadian fare ), Donnelly's Pub, Frosty's
Fish and Chips and the Winchester Arms make it easy to plan for lunch or dinner within
very close walking distance of the show.
Dundas Lions Club Craft Show
The Dundas Lions Club Craft Show takes place on Good Friday at the Dundas Armoury Building also known as the Dundas Lions Community Centre at 10 Market Street South
in downtown Dundas.
There is plenty of parking in the lot and street parking in the immediate neighbourhood.
Nearby restaurants like The Schwaben Inn, Donnelly's Pub and Grill, Frosty's Fish and Chips
and The Winchester Arms, are all with very easy walking distance
( with the Schwaben Inn being right across the street.)
The Dundas Concert Band
The Dundas Concert Band was established in 1873 as a military band.
In 1923, the band was renamed "The Dundas Citizens' Band", and became known as t
The Dundas Concert Band in the early 1940's.
Prior to amalgamation with the City of Hamilton, the DCB was the official concert band
for the Town of Dundas. Its importance to the town was recognized with annual funding
as required. The DCB is incorporated as the Dundas Concert Band Inc.
and their mission statement is:
"To provide musical entertainment for the community, and to further
the musical education and skills for members of all ages".
Sucker Saturday Fishing Derby
This is the oldest Sucker Fishing Derby in North America and attracts
kids and parents from far and wide.
Held in the spring of each year in the beautiful Town Of Dundas,
this derby offers prizes and promotes stewardship of the environment.
